"Let ME handle MY life"

A few days back Jia had to be hospitalised. She had developed an allergic reaction to a drug.Her family gathered around her in panic. For many yrs Jiya has been suffering from an incurable,cronic ailment. All & sundry tried to cure her but no success. As the time passed by,ppl around her started getting kind of immune to her health problems & this posed more problems for Jiya,who was basically was a very , very affectionate,sensible but a dosile person. The circumstances were such that she had to shelve all her assertiveness & succumb!!
A talented person,she worked in many fields to support the family kitty.When the world applauded her,her own lifemate scoffed at her very often,making her feel humiliated & belittled. Life continued,the kids grew up, sprouted wings & flew away. Hubby decided to have a second career post retirement. Jia too now wanted to do something more consistantly.Yet,her her need to do so was again & again overlooked. She was constantly advised by her family & friends as to what she SHOULD do & what she should not.She kept obliging till....
Here is where the twist to the narration is. While in the hospital, recently,she was given a time & date for discharge.The time:11am. A private nurse thus for that day was not arranged. While in the hospital,whenever Jia needed medical attention,it was not offerred. Despite her pleadings with the hospital nurses,medicines were injected through the IV that didn't suite her!!And when needed one,she was refused!!The result, a stitch in time was NOT given & then 10 more were reqiered! As the day passed by,Jia kept on getting restless & uncomfortable,since there were no signs of discharge!
Finally,her husband who was arranging the payments,billing etc.informed her that there was some problem with the billing,that the systemms were down,that the mediclaim policy wasn't being accepted,that certain procedures had to be followed! Now Jia started getting annoyed. She requested her hubby to pay in cash!!It wasn't the fault of the patient if the hospital comp wasn't functioning! She had had enough of the hospital!!The AC in the room wasn't working, she asked for ice pack/hotwater bag but wasn't supplied..the list was endless! Then her husband told her that the docs wanted her to be there for one more day under observation!!She called up the doc to check if that was so!It wasn't so!!The next day was Sunday & she was also infromed that the hospital,a private one at that,did not release patients on Sundays! She called up her husband who was outside her room,"Whats the problem now??I am NOT going to stay in this hospital after 9pm!And thats the deadline!"
Hubby: Try to understand,certain things can't be done..
Jia: Excuse me!!Pay them in cash!If you don't have,go sell my gold bangles!!What do you mean,it can't be done??Will the hospital authorities arrest me if I walk out??Are they going to foot the extra bill??
Hubby: Yes,they can..
Jia:Then I dare them now!I WILL walk out & let ME see who touches me!
In the meanwhile Jia also called up the police station for protection.She saw NO reason if the hospital was paid in cash,why she wasn't being given a discharge!!This strong,forcefull, aspect of her's was new to her family from BOTH the sides!!She simply took the reigns of her life, in her own hands for the first time in her ENTIRE life & succeeded too! She GOT a discharge within 15mins!Rest is history! She has coped with depressions,succumbed to nervous breakdowns,& all that! She wasn't going to leave her traumas behind in a second!!But she took the FIRST step!And she is about take the next!!Wish her luck! Hope she continues to have this command over certain situations whenever needed!!
